Yipeeeee
I am writing this knowing my oldest friend, Jill, is having her baby. Now!
I woke up thinking about her today. It's her due date. This morning (just 45 minutes ago, actually) texted her that I was thinking about her and that I thought today was a good day to have a baby.
I guess baby Sparks got the text. He is ready to go.
Instantly I got chills and my eyes welled up. I am so happy to have someone, my BFF since fifth grade, feel all the emotions that having a baby brings.
My other BFFs are pregnant too. Kinda funny, in an interesting way, that the four of us all waited until we were over thirty to get married. All within ten months of each other! By each of our one year anniversary we had found out we were pregnant (or in my case, already had a two month old). I love when life happens like this!
Jill having her baby makes me nostalgic about being pregnant, Leila's birth, and her first few weeks with us at home. Not that I am ready to do it again...yet. It must be something about Leila reaching so many milestones and changing so much these past months.
I was mentioning this to Amy (a glorious 34 weeks pregnant!) while hanging out yesterday. How it took me six months to be able to look back and reflect upon the changes that have taken place in my life.
As I have said before...I wouldn't change a thing.
Waiting to hear the news of baby Sparks!

Happy half-birthday
Just about every month I remember to take a picture of Leila with Minnie Mouse to document how much she has grown.
Happy 1/2 birthday Leila!
Leila's six month stats
Weight: 14 lbs. 3 oz.
Height: 25.5 inches
Likes: Swinging at the park, her Baby Einstein piano, Minnie Mouse, books, singing and dancing, grabbing everything, and moving, moving, moving!
Dislikes: Being in one place for too long, being frustrated, getting ready for bed, and being hungry.
Alright, not too creative but she is a baby and this is not her online dating ad.
She already has an arranged marriage ;)
Here's how she looked the weekend we took her home with us!
She is growing faster than I imagined. It is hard to believe!
So cliche, I know, but some things just are. I was always skeptical of parents that told me this.
I believe them now.
The jury is still out on another parenthood cliche.
Sorry Leila, I do remember a time when you were not a part of our lives.
There will not be many of those times we can discuss before you are eighteen.
I wouldn't change a thing.

Big Changes
Over the past week (seriously!) Leila has changed a lot.
She tried bananas, the pureed kind and frozen pieces in this strange little mesh feeder. Ba-na-na for Lei-la...yes please!
I know you won't believe it but bananas helped her grow hair! Either that or she was afraid she'd end up looking like Super Uncle Tom if she didn't grow some fuzz soon.
(Yes, I do realize Leila is still a bald-headed baby. I am not trying to convince you that she has a lot of hair, just that she finally started growing some. Pig-tails by summertime? Highly doubtful!)
Leila has also started army crawling. It is adorable to watch her squirm to get her toys. It will not be long until we have to baby-proof our apartment.
And Leila no longer needs her car seat adapter for her stroller. Hello big world! There is so much more for her to see. When we go to the park she just looks around quietly taking it all in.
Here are some shots of us at the park.
Enough already!
I swear Jeff is always singing/rapping to her while making some funny faces. I wonder if she know what he really looks like;)

5:45 am
To most, a 5:45 wake-up call on a Saturday seems like a terrible way to start the morning.
Today it is welcomed.
The past two nights Leila has slept through her 3am nursing session. What does this mean to me? SLEEP! Glorious oh-how-I-have-missed-you sleep!
The first time it happened I woke up in a panic wondering if Leila was alright. Today, I slept peacefully for 8 HOURS STRAIGHT (Yes, that means I went to bed at 9:30ish on a Friday night. Don't judge.)
I know writing about how Leila slept "through the night" finally at five and a half months old will NOT jinx it...but I am knocking on wood just in case. Twice.
